The Northwest Passage Adventure Travel
present:
Artists' Adventure on Crete 2007
"What a wonderful way to see and experience the crossroads of
civilization! Whether hiking, kayaking, painting, shooting, or
just taking in local colors and tastes, Crete will become part
of your soul."
- Dave Davenport
"The support from Northwest Passage, from careful planning to
smooth execution, made the trip a joy and Marge Graham makes
everyone feel comfortable and included. The sunsets alone are
worth the trip."
- Paulette and Lindsay Brown
"The sunset from above Matala beach was really incredible. As
the sun dropped behind a cloud bank, it shot a spotlight ray
into the sky and I took an amazing photo. Was I becoming an
artist on Crete?"
- Pat Aaron
Join Marge Graham for an artist-focused adventure on
the rugged and beautiful Aegean island of Crete, home of Bronze
Age goddess-worshipping Minoans. We'll explore the beautiful
Greek countryside, beaches and villages, in pleasant autumn
weather and meet the wonderful Greek and Cretan people. We'll
stay in simple, clean Greek hotels with balconies, feast on
delicious and healthy cuisine, and all at the affordable price
of $1,595.
Sept. 23 – 30, 2007: Artists' Retreat
Painting plein air landscapes in seaside tavernas
$1,595 for 8 days, 7 nights' accommodation plus optional
instruction, transportation and most meals (airfare not
included).
Price includes: One Northwest Passage Guide,
local transportation, lodging, most meals (all breakfasts and 4
dinners), optional kayaking and instruction the first two days,
and entry fees into ruins and museums.
Price does not include: Air or ferry to
Heraklion, lunches, drinks and 3 dinners, personal clothing and
accessories, baggage and trip cancellation insurance, airport
taxes and gratuities.
This week-long trip, designed for fun and artistic creativity, will
feature several days each in Matala and Agia Galini. Both
seaside towns are on the south-central coast of Crete. Matala
is a lively beach resort town, whereas Agia Galini is a
picturesque harbor town dramatically situated on a mountainside.
Included will be tours of the ancient Minoan
palaces of Knossos and Phaistos and a visit to the Heraklion
Archeological Museum.
Our daily routine will be morning drawing and painting en plein
air, lunch in a taverna by the Libyan sea, then a choice of
afternoon activities. These might include relaxing under an
umbrella at the beach, hiking to a remote nude beach, or
visiting nearby Minoan ruins, picturesque villages, and natural
sites. Before dinner in a local taverna, we'll gather for a
"Happy Hour" meeting and informal seminar.
