Women's Studies Seminar facilitator at Third Wave Feminism Third Wave Feminism will continue the Feminism in our Time (second wave) seminar from Spring 2009. It’s all about today’s younger generation of feminists and what’s up with them. For many of our daughters and granddaughters, feminism really is an f-word, but they are living in the new, wide-open, challenging and sexually charged universe of modern women today. Readings will be provided from diverse sources, including Backlash by Susan Faludi, ManifestA: young women, feminism and the future by Jennifer Baumgardner and Amy Richards, and bitchfest, edited by Lisa Jervis and Andi Zeisler. Contemporary feminist websites will also be included. Join facilitator Marge Graham for a thought-provoking exploration and discussion at The Women's Exchange, Winnetka, IL www.womens_exchange.org
April 15, 2011, 4-6 PM
Wine and Cheese Salon at The Spiral of Gaia: The Timeless Tale of Mother Earth In her second illustrated book of pre-patriarchal goddess myths, artist and author Marge Graham not only envisions the “Creation According to Gaia”, the ancient Greek mother goddess, but also includes a primer on geophysiologist James Lovelock’s famous Gaia Theory of the planet earth as a living organism. This book-in-progress will add a new dimension to the contemporary debate over global warming and climate change, as well as introduce a delightful “new” creation story.
